DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE?

The Cross

Do you want to be a good person? Do you struggle to do the right thing?

Paul wrote in the Bible:

I don’t understand myself at all, for I really want to do what is right, but I can’t. I do what I don’t want to — what I hate. I know perfectly well that what I am doing is wrong, and my bad conscience proves I know I shouldn't be doing wrong. But I can’t help myself because I’m no longer doing it. It is the darkness inside me that is stronger than me, that makes me do these evil things. - Romans 7:15-20 (adapted)

Maybe you are a good person, but are you friends with the God who created you? Does He think you are good? God knows everything about you, he knows you better than you know yourself, he made you and numbers the very hairs on your head, and He loves you. But his standards of goodness are far above ours.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. - Isaiah 55:8,9
"No one is good - no one in all the world is innocent.". . .Romans 3:10

GOOD NEWS.

If you want to change your life, God made a way for you to do just that. He made a way for you to be not just His friend, but His family. It is what God wanted for all of us from the beginning when he made the world, and being in God's family will change your life forever. He loved us so much that He sent his own Son into the world to set us free to become the best we could possibly be. To help us defeat the darkness in our lives and in the lives of others, to set us free from the power that causes us to do what we know is wrong.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Jesus to die for us while we were still sinners (wrong doers).. . .Romans 5:8

The Bible teaches that it was sin that caused death to exist and sin separated us from God. God had to find a way to overcome it's power over us. Jesus is God's Son, there was no sin in him, yet he chose to come to our world, which is full of sin, to help us defeat sin and death. To do so he had to be born as one of us, he lived without sin and then died a brutal death on a Roman Cross, then he beat death, coming back to life 3 days after he was killed. He stayed around for 40 days after coming back to life, and was seen by about 500 people. Appearing on 12 separate occasions. He told us he had to go back to heaven but he would send us a comforter to help us and he did. We call that comforter, The Holy Spirit. Jesus still speaks to, heals, and lifts those of us who love him, who seek him and who follow his teachings. Best of all one day he will return not just in spirit but bodily. But he will hear you now, if you talk to Him.

The best way to beat sin and change your life is to get Jesus help since he already proved he can do it. All it requires is that you sincerely ask Jesus to take your sins, and to come into your heart and change your life, into one acceptable to God. If you ask and truly mean it, then it will be given. You don't have to be in a church building, or meeting. It doesn't require any particular words, but if you're not sure what to say, below is a common prayer used. You can't earn his help, it's a gift you just have to ask for it.

"Dear Jesus,
Thank you for dying on the cross to take my punishment,
for breaking God's laws,
I know that I cannot meet God's standards,
and have broken His laws.
I cannot thank you enough for your amazing love,
that brought you to pay my debt.
I regret my doing wrong and ask your forgiveness,
I want to turn from doing wrong
and fully commit myself to following you.
Please come into my life and give me your Holy Spirit,
to help me live for God.
Thank you, Jesus, for saving me.
In Jesus Name,
Amen."

If you sincerely prayed that prayer, then as of this moment, you have Jesus help, better still if your body dies he will give you a new one and take you to heaven to be with him. You have God's word on it.

But some will come to me - those the Father has given me - and I will never, never reject them.. . .John 6:37.

If you want to come to know Him better. Get yourself a Bible it's all about Him. Start with the New Testament. Find a church that teaches from the Bible. Additionally, you can follow this website, which presents you with small readings and prayers several times a day, breaking down the gospel into bite-sized chunks that are easier to take in. If seven a day seems too much, try picking one to read a day, and gradually increase the number you read over time.

Welcome to the Family!

Jesus said to us we must pass on the good news to everyone. To help you share it with others you could just show them this video:
