Psalm 146

Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God all my life long.
Do not put your trust in princes,
in mortals, in whom there is no help.
When their breath departs, they return to the earth;
on that very day their plans perish.
Happy are those whose helper is the God of Jacob;
whose hope is in the Lord their God.
who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them;
who keeps a promise for ever.
who defends the cause of the oppressed;
and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets free the prisoner, and gives sight to the blind;
the Lord raises up those bowed down,
and loves those who are just.
The Lord cares for the stranger in the land,
and sustains the widows and orphans;
but turns the way of the wicked to ruin.
The Lord shall reign for ever;
your God O Jerusalem shall reign for all generations,
O praise the Lord.

Collect

Gracious God,
you have given us much today;
grant us also a thankful spirit.
Into your hands we commend ourselves
and those we love.
Be with us still, and when we take our rest
renew us for the service of your Son Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Thanksgiving

Prayer

Our Father,
your will be done
on earth as in heaven.
Be our light in the darkness, Lord we pray,
and in your great mercy
defend us from all perils and dangers of this night;
for the love of your only Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen

The Blessing

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with us all evermore.
Amen

The divine Spirit dwells in us.
