Sukkot - Wave the Lulav

This time the upper bands are removed from the bundle of branches. Face east while holding the Lulav bundle in your right hand and the etrog in your left hand. You lift them together with the etrog (lemon) pointing downward and recite the Lulav blessing.

Blessed are you, Lord our God,
King of the Universe,
Who sanctifies us with His commandments
and commanded us regarding the waving of the Lulav.

At the conclusion they take a bundle of willows and beat them on the ground 5 times.

Collect

Gracious and loving God,
you bring good tidings to the afflicted,
bind up the broken-hearted,
and proclaim liberty to the captives;
we thank you for sending Elizabeth Fry
into the prisons with words of comfort and deeds of care:
grant that all who minister to those in prison
may be filled with your compassion
and be bearers of your hope;
through Jesus Christ our Redeemer.
Amen.

Prayer

Our Father,
hallowed be your name
on earth as in heaven.

Lord God,
when you give to us your servants any great matter to do,
grant us also to know that it is not the beginning,
but the continuing of it, until it is thoroughly finished
which yields the true glory.
Amen.
