Eternal God,
through Christ’s obedience
you glorified our human nature;
give us such a passion for truth and justice
that, like your servant Frederick Denison Maurice,
we may work and pray for the kingdom of your Christ,
to the glory of your holy name.
Amen.

Prayer

Our Father,
save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
Almighty God,
you see that we have no power of ourselves
to help ourselves;
keep us both outwardly in our bodies
and inwardly in our souls,
that we may be defended from all adversities
which may happen to the body,
and from all evil thoughts
which may assault and hurt the soul.
